What is PicoWay®?
PicoWay by Candela is an FDA-approved laser therapy system that harnesses the power of high-powered lasers delivered within a single picosecond (one trillionth of a second). The short duration of the beam allows the target cells and pigments to be vaporized without heating your skin and causing superficial damage that requires downtime for recovery.
How Does the PicoWay Laser Work?
The Candela PicoWay™ is the newer Picosecond laser and features four wavelengths: 1064 nm, 785 nm, 730 nm and 532 nm. This laser effectively breaks up ink into tiny particles that are easily passed out of the body through the lymphatic system with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.
What Colors Can the PicoWay™ Remove?
While we have found that PicoSure™ can remove black ink quite effectively, dense black ink sometimes responds better to the 1064nm wavelength used in the Picoway™ laser in the beginning stages of removal. The PicoWay™ laser is much more precise and powerful, which means that its power is better at blasting stubborn ink pigments into fragments that the body can dispose of.
In addition to its ability to break down black ink pigment, the PicoWay™ is also especially effective at treating tattoos with black, red, or certain shades of green ink, and can also remove these colors in far fewer treatment sessions than other lasers on the market.
How Many PicoWay™ Treatments Does it Take to Remove a Tattoo?
The number of sessions to remove a tattoo depends on the size, location, and color of your tattoo. However, we usually find that 8-10 treatment sessions with the PicoWay™ are sufficient to completely remove most tattoos.
How Long Does it Take to See Results from PicoWay™ Laser?
Depending on the desired tattoo removal results, you may be able to see initial improvement as early as after the very first laser treatment! Multiple treatment sessions are required to sufficiently remove the tattoo, but the recovery time and speed of treatment is faster than that of the PicoSure™ laser, and especially compared to other laser equipment.

Cost of PicoWay truly depends on the size of tattoo and number of sessions required for proper treatment.
